Mendoza

JG: Mendoza - Malbec capital of the world. Pretty mellow few days there, did some research on the next leg of our trip (Morocco) once we leave South America next week. And, of course, indulged in a few bike tours of vineyards, and chocolate and liqueur shops....which, for Sandy, was equivalent to tossing over the prison keys to the inmates! Great time learning about the region and its significance in wine making, which was helpful for us rookies. Otherwise a mellow few days, went to the hot springs for a day, took in some nightlife and toured the city center on foot. Argentinians are great - the night doesn't even start until 10/11pm, and that's apparently when it's dinner time.

Flew to IguazĂș Falls on the east coast a couple days ago, which was expected to be one of the highlights of our stay in Argentina. It did not disappoint. Pics are posted to the next blog entry - there have been a few times on this trip so far where I've thought to myself 'I've never seen anything like this' - yesterday was one of those days.

My hockey playoff beard is going on three weeks and counting, and Sandy is loving it!

SS: I HATE THE BEARD!! In case there was any confusion. The worst part is that I don't even know when the end to this scraggly, obscene, vagrant homeless look will be over with. Oh dear...

Mendoza is wine heaven. There is even stories of when decades ago it was cleaning time at the wineries that the streets ran red with wine due to the city drainage system being combined. Or that workers have died by being knocked out by the byproduct of CO2 while making wine but the cause of death was by drowning in the vats full of wine. Death by wine, can you think of a better way to go?!

The hot springs are amazing, several pools with a wide variation of temperatures nestled into the mountainside. Although, the kiddy slide should just be for kids! Our adventure face first down ended with John with a scraped chest, bruised rib, banged up ankle, and for me, a massive lump on my forehead and bruised up elbow. It was crazy fast and then you land face down in the pool with water at turbo speed shot up your nose. Are we just slide incapable or too big for the ride? Lesson learned? Probably not.
